Yippee! I can now use my Nikon AF-S 14-24 G on my Canon 5D mk2

If anyone is interested they are available at 16:9. I will however warn you that just about everyone who buys this adaptor ends up feeling hung out to dry. You pay your money (£200 depending on which you buy) get no replies from emails and ultimatley, feel like you've thrown your money into the wind. I'd done my research before ordering - The fact that a lot of people were indeed getting their adaptors was enough for me to buy one. Talk of some people waiting 6 months, yes SIX months for an adaptor is all over the net if you dig it out.

As for the adaptor - Well it got here this morning, and it really is one hell of a piece of fine engineering with buttery smooth operation of the aperture lever, i can't wait to get out with this! I thought about buying the Canon ultrawide primes but the 14-24 is sharper and performs better than anything Canon do ultrawide, 16-35 mk2? Spanked by Nikon 14-24, 14mmL prime, again spanked buy Nikon 14-24, Canon 24L prime, close but spanked by Nikon. So in buying a Nikon 14-24 for my 5D mk2 i have covered about 4k's worth of Canon primes in one lens!

Getting back to the Adaptor, i have to be fair. If you read through the 16:9 website thoroughly you find that these adaptors are not the main part of the makers income, it seems the adaptors are a sideline to his existing business. I understand he earns his money mainly in photography. Several elements come into play to delay getting these adaptors manufactured - So all of this, coupled with the fact they are in great demand is a big problem! Anything manufactured on a small scale and in high demand will result in unhappy, impatient customers. I can't help thinking that if i was to be manufacturing these adaptors i'd look to customer communication in a lot more detail and at the very least keep people informed. Unfortunately as i've already mentioned this kind of service is close to non existant.

If you can order something in the know that you will get what you paid for but don't care how long it'll take to get to you, you'll have a far easier time of it than i did. I think my main problem was being promised a delivery date and it didn't happen. That was the nail in the 'customer service' coffin for me.

If you want to use Nikon glass on your 5D mk2 or 1Ds mk3 this adaptor is the way to go, i can confirm you get a very high quality piece of fine engineering that allows you to couple together the perfect ultrawide setup for the 5D mk2 and 1Ds mk3. Keep in mind that aperture is controlled manually with a lever (great for video though as you can smoothly alter aperture) this is no problem infact it has benefits. In the few minutes i've had the adaptor installed, i can find any aperture i want very quickly. Another thing to keep in mind is autofocus is non existant! So if you rely on AF then this adaptor is no good for you, you can buy the adaptor with AF confirmation which will accurately 'confirm' focus. I didn't get the AF confirm adaptor as to me autofocus is useless. I only ever use Liveview to focus manually anyway, this way i can accurately place my focus where i want without worrying if the shot was focused the way i wanted or in focus at all. Autofocus and shooting hyperfocally is useless.

Adaptor quality and value for money: 10/10 easily
Service: 2/10 as i did get some replies to a few emails i sent (sadly weeks after i sent them)
